Our overarching sustainability theme, “Action Not Words,” reflects our commitment to moving beyond declarations and delivering measurable impact. As Nigeria’s national energy company, we are taking bold steps to shape the energy landscape.
Our sustainability ambition is driven by four interconnected impact areas—Purpose, People, Planet, and Perception—which guide our value creation. Together, these ensure our operations are environmentally sustainable, socially inclusive, and transparently governed, enabling us to deliver Energy for Today and Energy for Tomorrow.

Sustainability Governance at NNPC Limited
NNPC Limited’s sustainability governance framework ensures strong oversight, strategic alignment, and effective implementation across the organization. The Board of Directors oversees sustainability matters through the Board Sustainability Committee (BSC). The Senior Management Team (SMT) ensures sustainability strategies align with the company’s long-term objectives and business priorities.
Strategic leadership is provided by the Chief Strategy and Sustainability Officer (CSSO), while the Head, Sustainability coordinates day-to-day integration across the Corporate Centre and all service and business units. Implementation is supported by the Sustainability Implementation Council (SIC), which drives cross-functional collaboration, guides resource allocation, and ensures sustainability initiatives and KPIs are effectively communicated and cascaded across the business.
